Washington to the World: Careers in International Affairs
Event Details
Alumni Career Services and the Alumni Club of Washington, DC invite you to Career Month 2014, focusing on careers in international affairs.
Washington has always been a center for career opportunities in international affairs, and the number and scope of these opportunities has never before been so vast. Beyond the core areas of international relations, national security, and diplomacy, many fields traditionally considered 'domestic' in focus increasingly involve substantial international components. At the same time, military and diplomatic spending faces increased pressure while the cast of international actors has grown more diverse to include NGOs, private ventures, and public-private partnerships to a greater extent than ever before. This highly dynamic landscape has created many new career opportunities, but is also more difficult for professionals at any stage of their careers to navigate.
This event will feature a panel discussion among University of Chicago alumni who have spent their careers working in a variety of capacities on the international scene and who will share their insights on how to break into and navigate the international job market in Washington. The event will include refreshments and a great opportunity to network with fellow alumni.
Cost: $10/person in advance; $15/person at the door
