A Collaborative Learning Environment

Our collaborative culture starts in the classroom, where you’ll be challenged and championed by peers and faculty who share your passion for learning. In group assignments and lively classroom debate, you’ll engage with professionals from a broad range of industries and backgrounds who will empower you to think boldly.

Study Groups
At your home campus, you’ll meet regularly with a study group of four to six classmates chosen for their diversity of background, job function, and industry. During international session weeks, you’ll join a different study group that brings together classmates from all three campuses. Study groups serve as both an academic support system and a chance to incorporate new perspectives into your business tool kit.

International Sessions
No matter which of our global campuses you choose as your home base, you’ll spend five weeks with students from all three locations. First-year EMBA students begin the program together in Chicago during Kick-Off Week, followed by international session weeks at our London and Hong Kong campuses. You will gather with the entire global cohort again for Electives Weeks in Chicago, during your second year. Along the way, you’ll explore new cultures, expand your network, and develop a broader point of view.

Benefits of Booth’s Global Cohort Community

EMBA students and faculty describe the benefits of the program’s global network.

Global Cohort

(energetic piano music)

- There's an incredible richness

of diversity in the Executive MBA Program,

both within our Chicago, and London,

and Hong Kong campuses, and even more so

when you combine across the three of them.

The fact that they're
from different industries,

different countries, different job types,

different levels of experience,

very different career goals,

it really greatly enriches the program.

- One of the fundamental things about

being a professor is that
you learn very early on

that you're not in the
teaching profession,

but you're in the learning profession.

And I think one of the great things

about being exposed to the diversity

of backgrounds is that
in every class I teach

I learn something new about,
say, a different industry,

or a different function,
or a different country.

- The value of the global cohort is immense.

At any given point in time
I can pick up the phone

and call Cynthia in South Africa.

Or call Tim in Berlin and get an answer

to a problem from a perspective
that I never would've had

if I hadn't been part of this school.

- What's so exciting about our students

in the Executive MBA Program is

that they have extensive
business experience

from all over the world, so they

are our most senior students.

They're all choosing
to be here even though

they have really high-powered jobs.

(energetic piano music)

- I come from a background of accounting,

finance, and corporate finance,

so I believe because of that background

I have a particular way of thinking.

Being exposed to a
diverse network of people

that come from backgrounds
that are outside my own

has helped me to think differently

when I look at business issues.

- The energy has been thrilling.

You have people who are very bright

and who are so experienced
in different ways

that when a professor
would ask a question,

we have so many hands shoot
up because you have people who

bring in a different level
of expertise or insight

into that particular problem
or that particular area.

- I'm very proud to be associated

with the Executive MBA Program.

I've taught in it for over a decade.

A lot of faculty like
myself seek out to teach

in this program because
they enjoy being engaged

with people who've had rich experience

in the real world, in
business, in politics,

building companies from
ground up, entrepreneurs.

These are exciting people to teach.

- The professors on day one said that

our classroom has an
expert in every field,

and I've found it to be the case.

I've experienced it in the classroom.

It's a humbling experience but it's also

an experience that one
can learn a lot from.
