We are pleased to announce that we will host the inaugural event of the "Chicago Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum Japan" (CHIEF-J).
Event Details
The first Innovation Forum will take place on 17 June 2014 at Ernst & Young Japan from 6:30pm. The forum will begin with a keynote Speech on "How a four member's small startup became a global company" by Takashi Oyagi, '97 and then move on to a panel discussion moderated by Takeyuki Kuroki, '94.

CHIEF-J (Chicago Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum Japan) is a sub-group of the Chicago Booth Alumni Club of Japan established on April 7, 2014 for the purpose of encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship between Chicago alumni (and extended communities in Japan). We would like to grow this small activity into a solid platform of making people's dream real by continuously planning and executing various networking events, seminar sessions by successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, or Japanese academia, and others that may have good seed technology of innovations.
For the moment, members of CHIEF-J are limited to Chicago Booth alumni and students, Chicago Booth staff, and persons who invited by CHIEF-J members.

Takashi Oyagi, '97 (Speaker)
Founding member and CSO/board director, Monex Group Co., Ltd
Takashi Oyagi is Chief Strategic Officer and a member of the board of Monex Group, Inc. (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 8698) and its U.S. subsidiary, TradeStation Group, Inc. He is in charge of the group's global corporate strategies including M&A's. Monex Group runs online brokerage business through its subsidiaries in the world, covering multiple asset classes. Before acquisition of then-Nasdaq listed TradeStation Group in 2011, he was in Beijing and Hong Kong, implementing the group's strategy in the region. He was one of four founding members of Monex, Inc., the Japanese broker dealer subsidiary of Monex Group, when it started business in 1999.He has been in the global capital markets for his 23 years of professional career. Previously, he was with Deutsche Bank Securities (in New York) covering credit products as sales, and Goldman Sachs (in Tokyo) trading loans in special situations. He started his career at the Bank of Japan in 1991. Takashi received his MBA from the University of Chicago (1997) and BA in Law from the University of Tokyo (1991). Takashi is a member of New York Committee of Human Rights Watch, one of the world's leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights and also serving as co-chair of Capital Campaign of Taktse International School, a not-for-profit school in the Himalayan region of Sikkim, India. He lives in Florida, USA.
Takeyuki Kuroki, '94 (Moderator)
Founder and CEO, SUVACO Inc
Mr. Kuroki is a co-Founder and President of SUVACO Co., Ltd. since April, 2013. Mr.Kuroki started his career at The Fuji Bank, Ltd. in 1988. He experienced M&A finance and lease finance through nine years assignment in the United States after received M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. After returned to Japan, he led generating M&A finance and advisory transactions at Mizuho Corporate Bank and continuously as Managing Director at Merrill Lynch Japan Securities before he launched SUVACO.
