Accelerate your Career with a Part-Time MBA
Current Evening and Weekend MBA students reveal how Booth has helped them grow and thrive in their professional journeys.
Accelerate your Career with a Part-Time MBAWe seek to help by posting a series of blogs breaking down the specific sections of the online application and sharing tips and FYIs. This blog post covers the Academic Record section within the online application and transcripts.
Accuracy
Be sure the information entered into the Academic Record section of the application matches your transcripts: dates of attendance, degree earned, major, and GPA. Answer all questions. If you received a failing grade, please answer yes to that question within the application. We will see all grades on your transcripts, and it is better to be open and explain the circumstances.
Adding schools to the Academic Record section
When adding institutions, please only list schools from which you earned a degree. There is another section that asks you to list courses you’ve taken that did not apply toward a degree. When adding an institution, you will select the level of study from a drop-down list. From this list, select undergraduate and/or master’s level. Sometime candidates mistakenly select diploma for their undergraduate degree. Of course this is not a significant error but making the correct selection will make our internal process smoother for the Operations team when they prepare your application for the Admissions Committee review.
Transfer credits
If you took courses elsewhere that transferred into your undergraduate or graduate degree, you need to list the school and provide transcripts only if the course titles and grades earned are not listed on your degree-granting institution’s transcript. Schools list transfer credits and courses differently. Look closely at your transcripts to see if you need to include your transfer credit school and transcripts. If you are unsure, reach out to the Admissions team. We are happy to help.
GPA
Don't leave GPA blank in the Academic Record section. We will see it on your transcripts, and it can look suspicious if you leave GPA blank in the Academic Record section.
Transcripts
At the time you apply, we only require unofficial copies of your transcripts, which you upload directly into your application. We need documents that show all courses taken, grades, degree earned, and date degree was conferred. If you don’t have unofficial transcripts, feel free to have official transcripts sent directly from your school(s).
Degrees earned outside of the US
If you earned a degree outside of the US, please upload documents that have been translated into English. We need to see all courses taken, grades, degree earned, and degree conferral date. Important note: Once you've been admitted and accept our offer, we then need your official documents.
We understand that your past academic performance and GPA are fixed. If you feel your academic record is an area of weakness, focus on scoring well on the GMAT or GRE, and highlighting strengths in other parts of your application. We know you have changed and developed from when you were an undergraduate student, and we take this into consideration. We hope this helps as you move through the application process.
