(mysterious music)

- In my profession,

I'm in accounting and tax and M&A,

technical rules,

law and regulations,

how the

minute details

are being worked out-

all these things are very important to me,

and we take pride in being able to manage

and be very proficient with these things.

The last thing I wanna
do is to go to a program

that's all about socializing

or just networking.

I wanna go to a program
that has substance,

has a lot of competence in it,

that I would want to roll up my sleeves,

learn the hard stuff.

We're able to be exposed

to the best economists

in the world,

not just in the US but in the world,

and then we can fuse that into our

actual

day-to-day business world

to come up with real-life solutions.

I mean, how can you beat that?

(gentle music)

- People ask me, especially my peers,

my colleague, my boss,

they all ask me, "Why do you
want to spend this kind of time

and money to go back to school?

Takes a lot out of a
person. And Chicago Booth

is not child's play."

My answer to that is this:

"The more senior you
get in an organization,

actually you face different challenges

than a simple day-to-day job.

You get to deal with a lot more things

that are really beyond yourself,

based on your past training and all that.

I really want to innovate,

go to the next level."

I'm from Hong Kong, and I'm a tax partner

and also national M&A leader
for Deloitte in China.

Well, I'm married.

I have two children.

My daughter, Lucia, is 16 years old.

My son, Kaysen, is 14 years old.

I believe my Booth
experience really helped

me create an atmosphere at home

that we should all be learning

new things every day.

My next goals will be to
step into a more senior

and managerial position
within my organization.

I think for me, going back to school,

I think it provides a lot of inspiration

for my people, so that they all think

they all need to learn. They
all need to be innovative.

If our boss who is so
senior who is doing this,

we should all be doing this as well.

And that's why I want
to set a good example

to my supporters.

You know what?

I'm also learning new things,

and I'm going to bring new value.

Patrick Yip Bio Final

“I like Chicago Booth because of its reputation in being very technical. I’m a person who is very interested in the nuts and bolts, the technicalities of how a certain thing is being done. In my profession, technical rules, law and regulations, are very important and we take pride in being able to manage and be very proficient. The last thing I want to do is go to a program that’s all about socializing or just networking. I want to go to a program that has substance, has a lot of competence in it. I don’t think there is any other school that can rival Booth in that respect.”
