Underrepresented Students of Color

JumpStart supports diversity in the financial services, consulting, and brand management industries by helping firms identify, educate, and recruit highly qualified but underrepresented MBA students at Booth through unique career development and employment opportunities.

Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) works with high-potential underrepresented students of color through coaching and networking programs to prepare them for leadership roles in a variety of professional industries. In partnership with Booth, MLT offers professional development programming to high-achieving diverse MBA students.

Founded in 1970 by Chicago Booth students, NBMBAA is dedicated to creating educational experiences and economic growth for African Americans by increasing awareness of graduate management programs and opportunities in management fields. Each year, Booth offers a seminar to help MBA students prepare for NBMBAA’s annual conference.

In partnership with the Posse Foundation, which identifies, recruits, and trains young leaders from diverse backgrounds with extraordinary leadership potential, Chicago Booth offers at least one full-tuition scholarship each year to a Posse graduate who has been admitted into Booth’s Full-Time MBA Program.

Prospanica is a national organization focused on academic and professional opportunities for the Hispanic community. Prospanica partners with Booth to provide networking opportunities and financial assistance to qualified Hispanic MBA students, and Booth offers seminars designed to help students prepare to make the most of the organization’s national conference.

Toigo Fellowships provide support and a powerful alumni network to underrepresented students of color at Chicago Booth.

Join us each February to celebrate African and African American culture with guest speakers, panel discussions, films, social gatherings, literary forums, and more. African American History Month events are open to all Booth students.

Designed for prospective MBA students from diverse communities, our annual Diversity Day gives you the chance to tour campus, get to know current students, and find out more about Chicago Booth’s appreciation for diverse perspectives.

Join Booth MBA students at these quarterly receptions full of dialogue, where you can experience Chicago Booth's commitment to a diverse and inclusive culture. Hosted at Gleacher Center, these dinners bring prospective students together with current students and alumni across the Evening MBA, Weekend MBA, and Full-Time MBA Programs.

Join other Full-Time MBA students for a weeklong series of events that celebrate and promote our diverse student experiences. Through Diversity Week activities, you’ll explore different cultures, discover new perspectives, and celebrate the contributions of people of all identities and experiences. 

One of the longest-running student-led conferences at Chicago Booth, the DuSable Conference provides a forum for African American students, alumni, and executives to share insights and build connections. Past conference speakers have included the Honorable Harold Washington, Reverend Jesse Jackson, John Rogers, James Bell, and Martin Nesbitt, ’89.

This annual dinner welcomes and recognizes underrepresented MBA students to the Chicago Booth community, connects them with faculty and alumni, and provides an opportunity to discuss diversity in business. The Fogel Dinner tradition was started in 1982 by the late Professor Robert W. Fogel, a Nobel laureate, and his wife, Enid, the first African American to serve as associate dean at the school.

Each fall, the Booth community comes together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of events kicked off by a celebration featuring food, music, dancing, arts, and entertainment. Programming is designed to support the Hispanic community at Booth, while also connecting it with the broader Hispanic population of Chicago.

Join us in building community among African and African American students at Booth, strengthening the bond between students and alumni of color, and serving as a resource for prospective students. The African American MBA Association provides a forum for Full-Time MBA students of African descent to network with the school community, corporate partners, and the city of Chicago.

The Hispanic American Business Student Association (HABSA) offers professional development, recruiting, and networking opportunities to support Hispanic Full-Time MBA students at Booth. The association connects members with a large network of alumni and companies, provides recruiters with resume books, invites firms to roundtables, and organizes events with Hispanic leadership throughout the year.

The Coalition of Minorities in Business for Evening and Weekend MBA students advocates on behalf of black, Hispanic, and Native American students at Booth; educates future business leaders on the benefits of diversity; and fosters professional development to promote diversity in business leadership.

The Diversity and Inclusion Initiative invites the university community to get involved in inclusion workshops, ally training opportunities, and monthly lunch-and-learn sessions that bring together individuals from across the university to learn about and act upon issues related to diversity and inclusion.

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) engages the university community in a variety of activities, from the OMSA Student Advisory Council and the Emerging Minds Project to graduate student mixers and an annual graduation celebration for students of color.

The FLI Network fosters a sense of belonging, inclusion, and resilience in students who are first-generation, low-income, or immigrants. Booth students are welcome to join the network and get involved through social events such as group dinners and mentoring programs.

GRAD Diversity & Inclusion supports the academic, scholarly, and career development of graduate students and postdocs from underrepresented and marginalized groups with one-on-one advising, writing accountability groups, opportunities for civic engagement, and more.
