Stigler Center News Luigi Zingales Named Member of American Academy of Sciences and Letters

Luigi Zingales, Robert C. McCormack Distinguished Service Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance at Booth and Faculty Director of the Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State, was recently named a member of the American Academy of Sciences and Letters (AASL).
Zingales is also a faculty research fellow for the National Bureau of Economic Research, a research fellow for the Center for Economic Policy Research, and a fellow of the European Governance Institute. His research interests span from corporate governance to financial development, from political economy to the economic effects of culture.
Zingales’ research has earned him the 2003 Bernácer Prize for the best young European financial economist. His work has been published in the major economic and finance journals and he also has publications in Science and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.
AASL also inducted the following other University of Chicago scholars as members:
- Clifford Ando (Departments of Classics and History);
- William G. Howell (Harris School);
- Geoffrey R. Stone (Law School).
Marianne Bertrand, Chris P. Dialynas Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at the Booth School, received a 2024 Barry Prize for intellectual excellence and courage.
