Our research professionals gain valuable experience working closely with Booth finance faculty before going onto a top PhD program in finance or economics.
The Fama-Miller Center for Research in Finance offers a unique pre-doctoral fellowship in finance for individuals with undergraduate degrees or master's degrees in economics and finance or in fields with related skills such as statistics, mathematics, or computer science.

Our two-year research professional program is designed to be an ideal transitional position for recent graduates who are interested in going onto a top PhD program in finance or economics. Our research professionals gain valuable experience working with some of the world’s top researchers in these fields.
Fama-Miller Center research professionals have the opportunity to work closely with multiple Booth finance faculty members and learn to provide research assistance for substantial research projects as well as receive mentoring. In addition, our research professionals can take one course per quarter for credit, attend the weekly finance workshop and seminar, and participate in the Fama-Miller Center seminar for research professionals.
The position provides excellent preparation for entry into a Ph.D. program or for conducting other analytical based research independently. The Center's RPs have been admitted to PhD programs at schools such as the University of Chicago, Columbia, UCLA, Berkeley, LBS, MIT, Northwestern, NYU, Stanford, Wharton and Yale.

- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance or related skills such as statistics, mathematics or computer science.
- Strong quantitative background and interest in learning cutting-edge research methods.
- Able to work independently and creatively to solve problems.
- Training in econometrics and statistics, as well as good computer skills and writing ability. Experience working with STATA, Matlab and Python are preferred.
- An interest in pursuing a PhD in economics, finance, or related field.
