In today's dynamic business landscape, technologies are critical to firms. Firms face the decision when it comes to investing in technologies to choose between internal development, licensing, or purchasing from external sources. This project uses patent data to investigate the strategies adopted by various companies.

Prior research has primarily focused on internally developed technologies; this project will go one step further by shedding light on patent licensing and acquisition activities. I (He) aim to present a holistic view of the technology development landscape, recognizing the alternatives' roles in shaping the firms' innovation creation.
