2007 US Monetary Policy Forum
March 9, 2007 - Washington, D.C.
This annual conference brings together academics, market economists and policymakers. The conference is co-sponsored by the Initiative on Global Markets at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and the Rosenberg Institute for Global Finance at the Brandeis International Business School.
Program
The conference began with a keynote speech by Alan Blinder titled "Making Monetary Policy and Talking about It."
The 2007 report, "Understanding the Evolving Inflation Process," was prepared by Stephen Cecchetti, Peter Hooper, Bruce Kasman, Kim Schoenholtz, and Mark Watson. The report was discussed by two FOMC members:
- Donald L. Kohn, Vice Chairman Federal Reserve Board of Governors
- Jeffrey M. Lacker, President, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond
The conference continued with a panel discussion on "Liquidity and Monetary Policy" and included:
- Randall S. Kroszner, Governor of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors
- Gary H. Stern, President, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis
