The PhD program in accounting has produced some of the most distinguished scholars in accounting, including multiple winners of the most significant research award in accounting - the American Accounting Association's Seminal Contributions to the Accounting Literature Award - won by former PhD students Ray Ball (1986), William Beaver (1989), Philip Brown (1986), Joel Demski (1994), and Ross Watts (2004).
