The University of Chicago Booth School of Business today announced its MBA program is now fully STEM-certified for Optional Practical Training (OPT) purposes, expanding its eligibility from two concentrations to the entire degree.

“Becoming a STEM-certified MBA has far-reaching benefits to both the professional and personal lives of Booth’s students, as well as for the health of our entire global network of more than 54,000 alumni in more than 120 countries around the world,” said Chicago Booth Dean Madhav Rajan. “In addition to arming our graduates with additional knowledge and tools to thrive in today’s business world, this updated degree reinforces the University of Chicago’s longstanding commitment to its international community.”

The expanded designation reinforces Booth’s commitment to preparing its future leaders for the world’s most challenging business problems by continuing to integrate technology and analytics into its already unparalleled curriculum. The updated certification also opens the door for Booth graduates on F-1 student visas to apply for an additional 24 months of training through work experience after finishing their MBA.

Booth’s expanded MBA STEM certification applies to all graduates from June 2019 and forward.
