- May 20, 2016
David Booth, founder, chairman and co-CEO of Dimensional Fund Advisors, was given the Investment Management Lifetime Achievement Award at Institutional Investor’s 7th Annual U.S. Investment Management Awards, held Thursday, May 19 at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City.
The awards recognize U.S. institutional investors “whose innovative strategies and fiduciary savvy resulted in impressive returns in 2015, as well as U.S. money managers in 39 asset classes who stood out in the eyes of the investor community for their exceptional performance, risk management and service.”
An entrepreneur and visionary marketer who built his successful investment firm on finance principles he learned while earning his MBA at the University of Chicago, Booth made the largest donation in the University’s history and largest gift to any business school in the world when, in 2008, he gave $300 million to the school that now bears his name—University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
“David Booth is an exemplary alumnus who embodies the values of the University of Chicago. We are thrilled to see him receive this well-deserved recognition,” said Sunil Kumar, dean of Chicago Booth.
Other 2016 award honorees include Peter Gilbert, former CIO of Lehigh University and the Pennsylvania State Retirement System, who was given the Institutional Investor Lifetime Achievement Award; and Spiros Segalas, president and CIO of Jennison Associates, who was named Money Manager of the Year.
