In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we had a quick chat with Sarthak Gupta to talk about Booth South Asian Club, his MBA experience as a Part-Time student, and more. Read on to hear about Booth South Asian Club and Sarthak’s connection to this cultural Month.
Sarthak grew up in India and moved to the United States in 2016 to pursue a Master’s in Urban Planning at the University of Texas at Austin. During his time in Austin, Sarthak worked at several firms in the architecture, civil engineering, and real estate development space. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, he always had an affinity for the business world, which ultimately led Sarthak to Chicago Booth.
As an engineer, I wanted a quantitative and data driven approach to my MBA, which is exactly what makes Booth shine. Though I wanted to get my MBA, I did not want to stop gaining work experience. It all worked out since Booth had a Part-Time Program, which I could pursue while continuing to gain work experience in the real estate development industry.
Why did you choose Chicago Booth, more specifically, what sold you on our Part-Time MBA Program? The South Asian Club provides a platform for South Asians and allies to come together. The goal of the club is to foster a sense of community, facilitate networking with fellow students and alumni, and learn more about the corporate opportunities in South Asia. Additionally, the community is big on social events, with Diwali being the highlight of all the events.
What are the mission and goals of the Booth South Asian Club?I wanted to get involved with a community that I deeply care about. My goal as a co-chair is to raise awareness about different traditions, which I believe is crucial to our individual growth as future business leaders.
Why was joining the Booth South Asian Club important to you?Check out the Booth South Asian Club site for additional information about the group’s mission, co-chairs, specific events, and more.
