When I started the process of picking an MBA program, one of the things that was important to me was finding a program that has strong social impact opportunities. My name is Brittany Henry, and I'm originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am pursuing a career in impact investing. So impact investors are focused on getting a financial as well as a social return. I'm interested in working for a fund that is investing here locally in sectors such as education, health care, financial literacy.

One of the resources that I really leverage here at Booth is the Social Enterprise Initiative, a center of excellence on campus that supports students who have passion in pursuing social-impact-related activities. With the Social Enterprise Initiative, I have participated in experiential learning opportunities such as the MIINT program that allowed me to sit in the seat of an impact investor, actually analyze a real social enterprise, and make recommendations based on that.

In addition, I took the Social Enterprise Lab class, in which I had another opportunity to help a nonprofit create a revenue-generating business. A social enterprise class wouldn't be as meaningful without going out and really exercising the skills that you're using. I found that here at Booth, and I think that that's really important and contributes a lot to my growth professionally as well as personally.
Favorite Thing About Living in Chicago
I decided to live in River North because I am walking distance to amazing restaurants and bars. I also live very close to the Gleacher Center so I have access to my classmates living in The Loop.
Advice to Anyone Considering an MBA
When researching MBA programs I think it's really important to find a cultural fit for yourself that will allow you to grow professionally as well as academically. I've really had an opportunity to get involved in things here at Booth because I feel comfortable.
