Why did you choose to pursue your MBA at Chicago Booth?

When I first learned about Booth’s MBA curriculum and the Civic Scholars program, I felt seen. Booth’s multidisciplinary approach, combined with the Civic Scholars Program, will center the gender, race, and cultural lenses, fostering enriching discussions that go beyond a standard MBA experience. I have been fortunate to serve as the Deputy Director at an organization that allows me to stay authentic in my identities. It is crucial for me to refine my leadership skills in an environment that values intersectionality in classes, as this is the kind of safe learning space I ultimately want to recreate outside of these classroom walls.

What are your career aspirations?

I plan to establish a 501(c)(3) organization offering a holistic approach to family interventions and reunifications that centers on community-based solutions, and to equip our communities with culturally resonant tools to respond to domestic violence. My goal is to combine victim services experience with business knowledge to drive sustainable growth and reach underserved populations. I also aspire to mentor women of color in nonprofits and serve on boards of grassroots organizations to build a supportive infrastructure for survivors.

Which MBA program are you pursuing and why?

The choice to pursue a weekend MBA came easily, as my goal in pursuing an MBA is to supplement and amplify the change that my organization is bringing to the community. Weekend classes allow me to navigate the work-school boundary more easily while gaining the knowledge and resources to be more effective in my role.
