Boothies continue to prove that Chicago has some of the best MBA talent the world has to offer. At Booth, we believe in the power of data, and hope that you gain a clearer picture of the ROI behind a Chicago Booth MBA after reading more about the hard numbers. Here are our key takeaways from the 2023 Part-Time MBA employment data.
Our Part-Time MBA employment report offers valuable information about how Booth students advance their careers during the program and where they land after graduation in terms of industry, function, employer, employment source, salary, and more. With access to this resource, you can see the range of functions and industries in which our students decided to work both while pursuing their MBA studies and after. The 2023 Employment Report includes graduates from Summer 2022 through Spring 2023.
Within 12 months prior to and four months post-graduation, 79 percent of students seeking a career change were able to pivot. Of those seeking a career switch, 62 percent moved to an entirely new organization, 34 percent advanced or changed positions at their current company, and 4 percent started their own company. Furthermore, of those Boothies who reported moving to a new organization, 66 percent changed functions, 70 percent changed industries (up from 53 percent in 2022), and 34 percent changed geographies. For graduates who decided to remain at their current companies, 94 percent received a promotion and 30 percent changed functions.
From consulting and tech to finance and management, our students seek out and secure roles in fields across the board. Listed below are the top function and industry pursuits from 2023 graduates.
Geographically, a vast number of our graduates are located in the United States. Key regions include the Midwest (74.5 percent), the Northeast (7.0 percent), and the West (9.7 percent). Furthermore, within the Midwest, 66.4 percent of graduates secured roles in Chicago after graduation (up from 56.6 percent in 2022).
Boothies who wanted to work at a new organization were able to secure a job with one of the many companies looking to hire students from our Part-Time MBA Program upon graduation. Of those who changed employers, 46.7 percent attributed securing their positions to Booth-facilitated channels, such as campus recruiting, job postings, alumni contacts, and faculty/staff/student groups.
