After taking the time to craft and submit an application that puts your best candidacy forward, our admissions team begins the process of reviewing materials submitted by our latest pool of applicants. The evaluation process takes place after the submission deadline for the round passes. We review applications holistically, so each portion of the application holds equal importance. Nothing is weighted as we are interested in getting to know who you are and what drives you. Here’s an overview of how our admissions process works, after you click submit:

  1. Initial Application Reviews
The first step of our review process consists of our team making sure all submitted applications are complete. We will reach out to you if you have any missing items and give you a chance to turn them in. After fully completed applications are accounted for, multiple members of the Admissions Committee will review your application in its entirety. The recommendations of the admissions directors are reviewed in aggregate before deciding whether to extend an invite to interview.
  2. Invitation to Interview
Once interview invites go out, if you move on to the next round, you are granted 48 hours to select your interview modality. At this time, you’ll have the option to schedule an in-person interview or enter your information for an off-campus/virtual interview. Typically these interviews take place with a current student or alumni in your area. Those who select an off-campus/virtual interview have a couple of weeks to complete the interview after being matched with an interviewer. Keep in mind that this is the only interview associated with our admissions process. We also have a short video response component associated with the admissions process. The purpose of the video response component is to provide applicants with a fun and quick way for individuals to showcase their personality even more to our admissions directors.
  3. Post-Interview Reviews
After the interview takes place, additional members of the Admissions Committee review your application. Application reads that take place after the interview are also full application reads that take into consideration any additional context provided within the interview report and your video response.
  4. Final Recommendations
Towards the end of the admissions process, Admissions Committee members make a final recommendation to admit, waitlist, or deny admission to Chicago Booth. All final recommendations are reviewed one last time by the Committee and the Associate Dean of Admissions.
  5. Decision Release
On decision release day, all applicants will receive an email notification to log into your application portal to see your decision.

We hope this information provides you with more clarity surrounding the admissions process. As you go through the application process, we wish you the best of luck. Upon submission, as you wait to hear back from us, feel free to keep up with our latest student stories and take some much deserved time to rest.
