Today, we honor all U.S. military Veterans within our community at Chicago Booth. We look forward to continuing to support these noteworthy members of our network as they rejoin civilian life and embark on their MBA journeys.
Chicago Booth offers resources to students specifically within the Veteran community. The Armed Forces Group (AFG) is a student group at Chicago Booth that’s available for students in the Full-Time and Part-Time MBA programs. AFG is a great way for military Veterans to build a sense of community during their MBA experience and beyond. This organization is open to current and former members of the US and international armed services. Members within AFG are dedicated to helping its members and prospective students succeed in their future endeavors. The group is committed to building a strong professional network, preparing students for the recruiting process, and working to assist prospective military candidates with the MBA application process at Booth.
Alongside the efforts of the Armed Forces Group, we also offer a variety of scholarship awards and other forms of financial assistance to military Veterans that can amount up to 100% coverage of costs and fees. The University of Chicago is part of the Yellow Ribbon Education Enhancement Program. The Yellow Ribbon Program is part of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 (commonly known as Chapter 33) and is available for student Veterans with 100% Post-9/11 GI Bill eligibility. For eligible students, the Booth Yellow Ribbon Program will cover all expenses not covered by the GI Bill and has no quota for the number of students. In other words, your MBA program will come at no out-of-pocket cost if attending on 100% GI Bill with Yellow Ribbon. Booth also offers the David W. Fox Scholarship, a full-tuition fellowship that’s offered to a student who served, or is currently serving, in the military. All eligible students are considered for the David W. Fox Scholarship during the admissions process. Lastly, read about the most recent support for Veterans at UChicago here.
The Booth Experience student blog team recently sat down with a couple of our current Veteran students, Kate Constantakis and Katie Pelkey. Check out their amazing stories here to read about their experiences within the military and the impact organizations like AFG have had on their MBA experience.
