Each year, the Trust provides scholarships to outstanding Chicago Booth students who have a proven track record of driving social service enhancement, innovation, and positive change in the social sector in Hong Kong.

Meet Kenneth Choi

As director of business development for a restaurant chain that provides employment for senior citizens, Kenneth Choi wanted to build the leadership and quantitative skills to take his social enterprise to the next level. “I’d had some early successes, but it was time to step outside my comfort zone,” he says. “I knew I would be more confident if I had the proper skill set and new frameworks for growing the business, scaling it, and helping even more people in Hong Kong.”

Meet Brian Cheng

Unemployment in Hong Kong, says Brian Cheng, is a two-sided problem. “On the one hand, many employers say they cannot find people with the skills for an entry-level position,” he says. “But at the same time, many young people are unemployed or underemployed. So there is a skills gap and a massive pool of untapped talent.” At Booth, Cheng is further developing his leadership as the CEO of Generation Hong Kong, a global nonprofit organization that bridges the gap between education and employment and drives broader structural change.
