I decided to get an MBA because I had started my career as an engineer and I found myself looking for more intellectual challenges. I started to explore what the opportunities were out there and found a lot of opportunity here at Chicago Booth. Chicago Booth has a reputation for being analytically intensive. I was really drawn to the critical thinking aspect of that and I've really fallen in love with the community.

One of the important things that you need when you're going through an intense program like you have here at Booth, and continuing to work concurrently, is that you need an outlet for the balance in your life. For me, that's primarily been training for and competing in triathlons. It's such a great start to my day.

The thing that surprised me most about my Booth experience is the level of commitment that my fellow classmates have to my success. It's a very collaborative environment. My career passion is really corporate strategy and what's really helped me pinpoint that in the classroom is the diversity of thought that we get out of the student body.

What I've noticed over the last year or two in the program is the evolution and the way other people see me around the office. I've evolved from an engineer into a business leader, and Booth is 100 percent responsible for that.
Career Changes While at Booth
At Booth, I discovered my true passion is corporate strategy. I decided to follow my passion and change careers from an engineer at a Fortune 50 company, and landed an ideal role as a strategy consultant at L.E.K. Consulting.
Why Booth?
Chicago Booth has a reputation for being analytical. As I got to know the community a little bit better I was really drawn to the critical thinking aspect of that, and I have really fallen in love with the community overall.
What Surprised You Most About Booth?
I think the thing that surprised me most about my Booth experience is the level of commitment that my fellow classmates have to my success, and not only to their own. It is a very collaborative environment and Booth has really played a major role in my career advancement.
