Biography

Malika Korganbekova’s research applies tools from causal inference, empirical industrial organization, and machine learning to study the impact of technology on societal issues, focusing on privacy, data regulation, and sustainability.   

Malika earned a PhD in quantitative marketing from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.  She also holds Master’s degrees in economics from Penn State and Central European University and an undergraduate degree in economics from Lomonosov Moscow State University. 

Outside of academia, Malika has more than six years of corporate experience working at Wayfair in the Machine Learning Science team, at Google in online advertising sales, at Morgan Stanley in credit risk research, at KPMG in the audit of oil & gas markets, and at Troika Dialog in Mergers & Acquisitions divisions.

Malika was born and raised in Kazakhstan and enjoys playing dombyra (Kazakh musical instrument), singing, playing guitar and ukulele, figure skating (Skate USA, level 6/6), and playing tennis.
