Hugh Cole teaches Interpersonal Dynamics in Leadership at Booth. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Group Psychotherapist and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor from Chicago Illinois. Outside of Booth, Cole is founding partner and COO of Chicago Pride Center, LLC and co-facilitator of Interpersonal Dynamics T-group with Leaders in Tech in California (LIT).
Cole is an Albert Schweitzer Fellow for Life, addressing healthcare disparities at home and abroad, and was the 2012 recipient of Loyola University Chicago President’s Medallion for community service for his group work in the Chicago LGBTQIA+ communities utilizing phenomenological group process. His therapeutic work is informed by his experience of the trauma consultation group at Womencare Counseling in Evanston. Cole served as senior clinician at Howard Brown Health Center where he facilitated group, individual and relational psychotherapy, also providing clinical supervision and consultation addressing issues related to interpersonal effectiveness, identity, grief, substance use, healing from trauma and issues related to the experience of belonging.
Cole received his Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago with a mental health concentration. A lifelong learner, he is currently pursuing certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), The Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM) of trauma therapy and Applied Jungian Depth Psychotherapy. He comes from a large and ever-growing family from the South side of Chicago, and his personal passions include family, art, travel, music, theatre, gardening and social justice.
