This kick-off event will be informative for a wide variety of audiences, including aspiring angels interested in investing, practicing investors seeking to keep current, and individuals looking to network with other angel investors and Chicago Booth alums.

This event will have a panel comprised of seasoned angel investors, including venture capitalists, founders, and business school professors. Topics to be covered include:


o What is angel investing
o Risks and rewards
o Investment theses and processes


This is the first of a series of education events. Future programs will include the mechanics of angel investing, including term sheets, capitalization tables, and how to lead a deal. This event is open to all guests.

Andrew Ackerman (Speaker)
Managing Director, Dreamit

Andrew is recovering consultant turned serial entrepreneur, startup mentor and angel investor. He is the Managing Director at Dreamit, currently in charge of the UrbanTech accelerator program. Andrew has also written for Fortune, Forbes, Propmodo, CRE Tech, AlleyWatch, Edsurge, The 74 Million, et. al.

Andrew has founded two companies and has a keen appreciation for how hard it is to build a successful startup, even under the best of circumstances. He speaks Hebrew fluently as well as some Spanish, French, Japanese and JavaScript.

Angela Lee (Speaker)

Angela Lee is an educator & entrepreneur. As Chief Innovation Officer and Associate Dean at Columbia Business School, she is focused on fostering teaching excellence and innovation across faculty. Angela teaches top rated courses in leadership and entrepreneurship and was voted top three faculty by students in 2018. She started her career in product management and then was a strategy consultant at McKinsey. Angela has started 4 startups and is also the founder of 37 Angels, an investing network that has invested in 50 startups and activates new investors through an investment bootcamp.

Angela has spoken at the White House and is regularly invited to advise decision-makers at the highest levels, including Prime Minister Trudeau. She is a sought-after expert on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, MSNBC and Fox Business. She was recognized by Inc. as one of 17 Inspiring Women to Watch in 2017, by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of 6 Innovative Women to Watch in 2015, and has been named by Alley Watch as one of 100 NYC Tech Influencers You Need to Know. She serves on the boards of Fresco Education Fund, Alice App, and Cariclub.

He has made over eighty eclectic investments in the areas of e-commerce, technology, advertising, digital social media and entertainment. Of his eighty companies there are 20 female founders, 12 international companies and 30 currently active companies. Some of John's notable exits include Xlibris, LiveLOOK sold to Oracle, Diapers.com sold to Amazon for $545 million, Centrak sold to Halma for $140 million and Jet.com sold to Walmart for $3.3 billion.
