The Chicago Booth Alumni Club of Thailand, in association with other co-hosts present a very special talk by Robert Aliber, Professor Emeritus of International Economics and Finance at Chicago Booth, who successfully forecasted a national banking crisis a full 18 months before it happened. Those who heeded his warning had the opportunity to gain handsomely, and we offer you the opportunity to hear him speak. Joining him will be two experts on the Thai economy--Professor Vimut Vanitcharernthum of Chulalongkorn University and Dr. Tanapoom Damraks, former macroeconomic strategist at Merrill Lynch London.
We live in a world of economic and political volatility, including the sputtering recovery of the United States, economic slow-down of China, economic sanctions by the U.S and E.U against Iran and Russia, and China's desire for their currency to play a greater role in international trade. These events have caused much volatility in key international currencies and strongly impacted emerging markets such as Thailand.
