At the intersection of biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, and materials science, molecular engineers are making discoveries that offer unprecedented opportunities to advance science, solve pressing problems, and drive economic growth. This emerging field promises completely new approaches that break through barriers that seem intractable under current technical and resource limitations.

Join Matt Tirrell, founding director of the University's Institute for Molecular Engineering, as he discusses the frontiers of this new science and how this exciting new undertaking at Chicago can transform the way engineering is considered and taught. This will be Professor Tirrell's first talk for an alumni audience. He comes to UChicago from the University of California at Berkeley, where he served as the Arnold and Barbara Silverman professor and chair of the department of bioengineering and professor of materials science and engineering.
