Alex Tang
Alex Tang, ‘08, is CEO of Secured Alliance Ventures, the for profit subsidiary of Secured Alliance, a non-profit Trustee to over 1,600 Special Needs Trusts across the United States. Prior to SAV he was a Vice President at IPD Capital, a family office investing in venture capital opportunities which included, but not limited to AllBirds (NASDAQ: BIRD), CLEAR (NYSE: YOU), Sense Photonics (Acquired by Ouster (NYSE: OUST), and Owlet Baby Care (NYSE: OWLT). He has worked in Private Equity/Venture Capital, Energy, and Strategy Consulting. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign completing a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering and attended the University of Chicago Booth School of Business for his MBA. In addition to enjoying golf, being a foodie, and attending charity events, he is on the Board of Advisors for the Stuart School of Business at Illinois Tech.
Alexandra Barroso
Alexandra Barroso, ‘02, is Controller of Technology Lifecycle Services at IBM, overseeing $900M of annual cost tied to 5,000+ resources across 13 different countries. She obtained her MBA from the full-time program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she was recognized with the Dean’s Distinction Award for outstanding contributions to the community. Alexandra is a committed volunteer at Breakthrough Miami and serves as Treasurer for the Greater Miami Youth Symphony, where she provides strategic oversight and expert guidance on all financial matters, ensuring fiscal responsibility and regulatory compliance across the organization. Prior to Booth, Alexandra worked at Accenture in New York City as a Business Process Consultant. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, she earned her Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Mathematics, from Bryn Mawr College. Alexandra and her husband Carlos, a Booth graduate as well, live in Coral Gables with their two children.
Alexei Ratnikov
Alexei Ratnikov is a highly experienced professional in corporate finance and business development, currently working with Chiron Financial, a middle-market investment bank. Alexei also co-founded and managed several companies in oilfield services and steel industries. Previously, Mr. Ratnikov held CFO roles where he completed Chapter 11 reorganization and facilitated substantial financing transactions. His notable past roles include his time at TMK Group, contributing to a $1.1 billion IPO and a $1.7 billion acquisition of the U.S. company, as well as working for a prominent Russian private equity firm - The Sputnik Group. Alexei holds an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago, a degree from the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He resides with his wife and daughter in Coral Gables, FL and likes to play tennis, travel, mountain ski and cheer for his daughter at dance and swimming competitions.
Irena Friedgan
Irena Friedgan, '08, is an Independent consultant focusing on helping start-ups and small businesses develop strategic thinking and obtain desired growth. Irena’s other post-MBA experience include roles at United Airlines, ranging from flight operations to performance analysis for the Investor Relations team, as well as building a deregulated energy company, Eligo Energy from the ground up, and serving as its first CFO. Prior to getting her MBA she worked in Healthcare and Banking and has a long history of working with nonprofits. Irena obtained her MBA (’08) from the evening program at Chicago Booth, and also has a BS (’00) in finance and accounting from DePaul University in Chicago. She sits on the operating board of BANC (Booth Alumni Nonprofit Consulting) and Spertus Institute, located in Chicago. Irena is originally from St. Petersburg, Russia and speaks fluent Russian. Irena recently moved from Chicago to Sunny Isles Beach, FL, where she resides with her family.
Mark Tang
Mark Tang, ’19, is a tax manager at Crescent Heights, where Mark is responsible for 200+ entities’ tax compliance. Also, he manages ownership and capital structure, analyzes real estate transactions’ tax projection and cash flow, and maintains bank loan covenants’ financial reporting. Before Crescent Heights, Mark spent 8+ years working in public accounting firms conducting tax consulting, then a year managing a $3B+ publicly traded corporation’s federal and 40+ states’ tax provision and compliance, including 10-K/Q tax footnote, and assisting a subsidiary’s spin-off and IPO. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Human Resources, a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul University, and an MBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
