Richard P. Strubel was vice chairman and a member of the board of directors of Cardean Learning Group and formerly was president and chief operating officer of its predecessor company, Unext. He is a trustee of the University of Chicago, where he is chair of the Audit Committee and serves on the Executive Committee of its Medical Center. He is also trustee of all of the institutional and retail mutual funds managed by Goldman, Sachs & Co., a trustee of Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners, and a trustee of the Northern Funds. Strubel is a director of other companies, including Gildan Activewear Inc.
Strubel is the former president and CEO of Microdot Inc., a manufacturer of aircraft and automotive fastening systems, electrical connectors, sealing devices and ingot molds. He is also former president of Northwest Industries, a NYSE company with sales in excess of $3 billion whose principal operating companies included Coca-Cola of Los Angeles, Lone Star Steel, and Union Underwear. He is also former president and chairman of the board of the Buckingham Corporation, and former associate and managing principal of Fry Consultants.
He earned a master's degree from the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard University and a bachelor's degree from Williams College.
In the civic arena, Strubel is a member of the Chicago Club, the Commercial Club, and the Economic Club of Chicago.
