The second annual Emerging Markets Summit, hosted by University of Chicago Booth School of Business students, will be held Saturday, April 12, at the JW Marriott Hotel, 151 W. Adams St. in downtown Chicago.
Last year’s inaugural event drew more than 400 attendees, and organizers of this year’s event expect that number to increase.
The one-day event gathers professionals and dignitaries from Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, China, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and North Africa for four regionally-focused conferences and one pan-regional conference.
Keynote speakers for the event include H. Odein Ajumogobia, founding partner, Ajumogobia and Okeke and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria, who will give the welcome address; Nagesh Basavanhalli, president and managing director of Fiat Chrysler, who will deliver the India keynote address; Roberto Castello-Branco, director of investor relations, Vale, Brazil, who will offer the welcome address for the Global Roundtable; and Olanrewaju Adegbite Falade, chief operating officer of Oando Energy Resources, who will deliver the Africa keynote address. Other national and international speakers can be found here.
Attendees can attend a regional track to focus on one geographic area, or a thematic track, which addresses a specific topic across multiple emerging markets. Themes for this year’s summit include entrepreneurship, investing, selling to consumers or government-business relations.
With the freedom to customize their schedule to spend the day tracking one region or following one industry track across conferences, attendees will be able to explore emerging market trends, opportunities and challenges across multiple regions in a single day.
